Venky team South Super Stars won in ‘CCL Curtain Raiser’ match

The South Stars team led by Venkatesh won the toss and elected to bat. The team scored 192 runs with a loss of 8 wickets in the mandatory 20 overs. The Mumbai Heroes team could score only 156 runs in 20 overs with a loss of six wickets. Hence the CCL friendly match won by South Stars team.

Adarsh of South Stars team hit 48 runs in 28 balls to remain a top scorer, while Venkatesh hit 27 runs and remained not out. In the beginning Tarakaratna gave a good beginning to the South Stars team by scoring 30 runs in just 13 balls.

Mumbai Heroes lagged way behind and their entire team had very poor score. Mahesh Manjrekar of Mumbai Heroes did a nice bowling.

The celebrity match drew huge crowds and the city police had to swing the batons mildly to thwart an unruly crowd which tried to gain entry into the Dr Raja-sekhar Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. The excitement ran high with the entry of the movie stars from Bollywood. Salman Khan drew maximum attention though he neither fielded nor got a chance to bat. Unlike the festival matches usually played by a mix of cricket players and stars, the CCL was different with the cine stars exhibiting their skills.

Venkatesh who led his team to victory in the Celebrities Cricket League match,unfortunately had an injury on his chin while catching the ball almost at the end of the match.While the super stars Salman Khan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Sonu Sood added colour to the event, the Southern Stars had the local fans to cheer them up.

Actress Shriya Sharan,Richa gangopadhyay,Genelia,Tapasee Priyamani, Andrita Ray,Punam Kaur and Raagini added the glam quotient to the event cheering up the players. Earlier the National Highway leading from the Airport to the Cricket Stadium at Madhuravada was packed with the people, lovers of both cricket and movies.
Students took off their time to have a glimpse of their favourite stars.
